Introducing our seventh creation, a bold and elegant wine from the heart of Tuscany. Crafted with inspiration drawn from the resilience and fortitude of strong women, particularly our migrant foremothers, this exquisite blend pays homage to tradition, encapsulating the essence of the old country and the rich heritage we deeply cherish. 

This Tuscan blend, comprised of 45% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot, 15% Syrah, and 10% Cabernet Franc, is a modern, powerful, and rich expression of the region. It delights with notes of dried cherries, blackberry, savory herbs, leather, and earthy baking spices, creating a complex and satisfying experience for the palate. 

The label features the proud image of an Italian woman wearing the traditional attire of Tuscany. She holds both olives and grapes, enduring symbols of the region’s agricultural legacy. Encircling her halo are dandelions, symbolizing resilience. Her flower crown includes almond blossoms and calendula, both flowers symbolizing hope. 

A quote from Dorothy West graces the back label: "There is no life that does not contribute to history." With each sip, immerse yourself in a tribute to the enduring spirit of these remarkable women, whose legacy continues to shape our lives. Cheers to their strength, to tradition, and to the enduring bonds of heritage. 

The Camille Series 

These wines are exclusively available at Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant. Each year, our Master Sommelier, Emily Wines, releases a new Camille wine. 

The labels for the Camille wines were created specifically for Cooper’s Hawk. They are collages that incorporate several unique elements. The background prints are vintage wallpaper, the clothing comes from old paintings, the faces are tinted black and white photographs inspired by 19th century Japanese photography and the crown and halo are assembled from plant pictures. Little hidden images throughout engage the viewer. Some have stories, some do not. Every viewer connects with the labels in a different way and we love to hear from people what Camille means to them. 

As Emily thought about making this series of wines a tribute to strength and bravery, her wife suggested using her middle name- Camille. She says, “In times when I have needed extra courage, I call on my own brave alter-ego to step forward! I think we all have that “inner Camille” that gives us strength when we call on it. As a valentine to my wife, a little starfish is found in the lower right corner of each label. Certainly, behind every great woman is another great woman!” 

The Camille wines are all blends. None are bound to a specific appellation and from vintage to vintage they will hold their overall identity, but the blends can change. Like your grandmother’s favorite dishes, there may be no exact recipe and she might alter it a little each time she makes it, but it is always delicious. Each year we seek out the best fruit to match the expression of wine desired.
