A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from California. Fruit forward with aromas of black cherry and blackberry that lead into tobacco, vanilla bean, and pepper. Smooth tannins and supple body make this an easy sipping wine.

Cabernet Sauvignon adds weight and structure to the blend while Merlot adds a plushness to the body. Oak aging adds notes of vanilla and tobacco to compliment the bold fruit flavors.

Cooper's Hawk Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This wine is a great entry level wine, meaning it is very approachable and easy drinking wine with broad appeal while still being affordable. However, we have also crafted it to be a great food wine. Our Cooper's Hawk Red has enough acidity to refresh your palate after every sip, and, like any hearty red wine, it has elevated tannin levels, which pair well with rich, fatty foods. The tannin molecules bind to the proteins in rich foods, making them feel velvety smooth and giving the wine a luxurious texture.
HISTORY
From the beginning of Cooper's Hawk, this has always been a classic. Cooper's Hawk Red, along with the Cooper's Hawk White, was one of the original wines made at our first location in Orland Park. We opened our first restaurant in 2005 in Orland Park, Illinois. Not only was it our first restaurant but it was the home of the original winery as well. Cooper’s Hawk has grown much larger since then, so large that we now work with a winery called Nexterra, located in Woodridge, Illinois. Nexterra creates all the wines for Cooper’s Hawk to our exact specifications.
