Red Sangria Wine

IN THE BOTTLE

For our Red Sangria we start with a base of red wine and add a mix of lemon, passion fruit, tangerine, and apple concentrates before bottling. This eliminates the need to add fruit for flavor, but we suggest when at home to try mixing our Red Sangria with ice and lemon-lime or club soda.

CLASSIC FLAVOR PROFILES OF VARIETAL

Classically sangria has an orange liqueur like triple sec added to give an aromatic citrus note to the drink, but we have opted to use tangerine and lemon concentrates to give it a similar profile.

VARIETAL FACTS

Sangria is very flexible and forgiving to make. Feel free to try adding different flavors to our Sangrias to make interesting twists. Looking for a tropical flavor? Add litchi fruit and pineapple. Want something warm but fruity? Bring a bottle of our Sangria to a simmer on the stovetop with a cinnamon stick and a few cloves. The possibilities are endless.

HISTORY

The history of sangria traces back to Roman times. Romans would mix water with wine and add flavorings like herbs and spices, and dates for sweetness. That sounds a lot like a sangria! Romans also considered wine to be the most esteemed of beverages. Cider was okay in a pinch, but beer and milk were considered as uncivilized.

DID YOU KNOW?

When making your own sangria at home, don't reach for a Cabernet Sauvignon or any wine that is overly tannic, which can dull the flavor of the fruit you would add. Instead, use an easy-drinking, cheerful wine like a Côtes du Rhône or a simple red blend.
