Each Spring we celebrate a year’s work of compiling some of California’s most profound grapes. We look for vineyards with the best sun and soil and we taste the grapes in the fall to assure that they have the power and intensity desired. Once we complete the blend, this powerful wine must rest in oak barrels. Oak helps soften the tannins and mellow the intensity of the wine to create a complex and elegant blend that has the potential to age for years. Throughout the year, we offer this same wine in our barrels in each restaurant so that you can see how the blend is coming along. We bottle it once per year in a limited release to our Wine Club Members.

The 2022 Barrel Reserve release is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, which provides an incredible structure, or framework for the rest of the blend. The other grapes add lush fruit, dark color, a pop of spice or herbs and other flavors. Like all prior Barrel Reserve wines, this is bold and powerful with jammy blackberry and black cherry flavors. Look for pepper, vanilla, and clove notes balanced by a soft herbal tone of bay leaf and bell pepper. Velvety tannins are matched with tangy acidy producing a long, spice laden finish.
