For our 2024 Barrel Reserve our winemakers set aside lots of wine that they feel have the qualities needed to be enhanced with barrel aging. These wines are firm, dark, and rich with bold tannins. Barrel aging softens those tannins and rounds out the texture, making it velvety and smooth. The oak also adds spicy notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove along with sweeter notes of vanilla and caramel. The varietals used are all known for their power and intensity. Cabernet Sauvignon is the ideal frame for a blend as it adds structure and depth. Juicy grapes like Merlot and Zinfandel bring in lusciousness while grapes like Malbec and Petite Sirah add dark color and violet flavors. The combined symphony of these has a palate loaded with blackberry, black current, clove, dark chocolate, and coffee flavors. This is a dark and spicy wine worthy of enjoying with a great meal today or cellaring for years to come.  

Our 2025 Barrel Reserve is a wine crafted for those who seek depth, elegance, and a touch of boldness. Each year, our winemakers hand-select specific lots brimming with the potential to undergo an extended barrel aging process. These carefully chosen wines possess a dark, intense character, with firm tannins that, over time in the barrel, soften and transform into a smooth, velvety texture. Barrel aging introduces layers of complexity, infusing warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, along with sweet hints of vanilla and caramel. This vintage is a powerful blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon, the backbone that provides richness and depth. Vibrant Merlot and full-bodied Zinfandel bring rich, juicy layers, while Malbec and Petite Verdot add intense purple color and subtle violet aromas. The result is a harmonious, full-bodied wine with a palate layered with flavors of blackberry, black currant, clove, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee.
