White Sangria Wine
IN THE BOTTLE
For our White Sangria we start with a base of white wine and add a mix of lemon, passion fruit, tangerine, and apple concentrates before bottling. This eliminates the need to add fruit for flavor, but we suggest when at home to try mixing our White Sangria with ice and lemon-lime or club soda.
CLASSIC FLAVOR PROFILES OF VARIETAL
Sangria is a red or white wine with fruit added for flavor and, sometimes, a spirit like brandy to increase alcohol content. Because there are no rules as to what types of fruit or wine you can use, the flavor of sangria can vary significantly from recipe to recipe.
VARIETAL FACTS
Sangria can make for an easy, refreshing punch in hot weather. Simply put our White Sangria in a punch bowl along with some brandy, orange liqueur, tonic water, and sliced citrus. Keep the drink cool by using frozen fruit instead of ice to make sure that you do not dilute the punch.
HISTORY
The term sangria dates to the 18th century and is generally believed to be taken from the Spanish "sangre," or bleeding, in reference to the red color of the wine. The Spanish have always been fond of mixing wine with other ingredients to create a refreshing new drink. A popular example in the Basque region is kalimotxo, a mix of deep red wine and cola! Sangria was introduced to America during the 1964 World's Fair in New York City.
DID YOU KNOW?
"Tinto de Verano," or summer red, is a forerunner of sangria and is a mixture of red wine, ice, and lemon soda.
