Rich, sweet flavors including grape jelly, purple grapes, roses, and red cherries with a hint of vanilla on the finish. If this wine tastes familiar, it is because it is made from Concord grapes. Concord is the same grape variety used to make the grape juice and grape jelly.
CLASSIC FLAVOR PROFILES OF VARIETAL
Concord grapes wines are one of the few that you will see wine professionals say have a “grapey” flavor. That is because Concord grapes have the intense flavors and aromas that we associate with grape candy and grape jelly. Concord grapes can also have a slightly earthy flavor in the background that adds a pleasant contrast to the ripe, fruit-forward flavors.
VARIETAL FACTS
The Concord grape is an American grape varietal, and this is the only wine we make that is 100% from native American grapes. The name of the grape comes from its discovery in Concord, Massachusetts. The most famous person associated with Concord grapes, Dr. Thomas Welch, was actually trying to bottle grape juice and keep it from fermenting and turning into wine!
HISTORY
If you find yourself in Italy and have a chance to drink a wine called "fragolino" or "little strawberry," you are in for a rare treat! Back in the late 1800s when phylloxera devastated European grape vines, some Italians decided to try and make grapes from American varieties like Concord. Eventually, scientists discovered how to save European grape varieties by grafting, and Europeans made it illegal to make wine using American grape varieties. But many Italians turn a blind eye to wine made for personal use. To this day some farmers still make tiny amounts of Concord grape wine, calling it fragolino in reference to the ripe strawberry flavors that Concord grapes can sometime produce.

These two wines together are our number one selling wine. Romance Red came first, but some people did not like the idea of drinking a wine called "Romance Red." For this reason, we bottled the same wine as Sweet Red! Many of our guests think they are different and will argue the difference, but we promise, it is the same wine.
