Bubbly Rosé Wine
IN THE BOTTLE
This wine is a blend of Syrah and Grenache from Washington state. Aromas of watermelon, fresh strawberry, and pink cherry with tart lemon and notes of rose petals on the finish. The palate has refreshing acidity and creamy effervescence with a touch of sweetness to balance out the acid.
CLASSIC FLAVOR PROFILES OF VARIETAL
When made into rosé, Grenache tends to bring bright fruity flavors to the party like cherries, ripe melon, and red berries. Syrah adds tart structure along with subtle floral notes like roses.
VARIETAL FACTS
Sparkling wine is a wine with significant levels of carbon dioxide in it, making it fizzy. Sparkling wine is usually white or rosé, but there are examples of red sparkling wines such as the Lambrusco from Italy or even sparkling Shiraz from Australia. The sweetness of sparkling wine can range from bone dry to sweeter dessert styles.
HISTORY
Sparkling rosé wines are made in two ways. The first method starts with white wine and adds a splash of red wine for color. The second method uses red grapes, but the juice only spends a short amount of time on the skins, extracting only just enough color to make the wine a rosé. We make our wine via the second method.
DID YOU KNOW?
The first evidence of sparkling rosé is from 1764 from the Champagne producer Ruinart. Historians speculate that this rosé was accidental, since wineries at the time focused on making white wines from red grapes, but lucky for us this happy accident occurred! Nowadays, about 10% of Champagne production is rosé.
